It is a belief that there should be a proper prayer service and cleansing ritual to be conducted on an auspicious date and time for your new house. The rationale behind this is because there may be unseen “friends” loitering around in the house while it’s still empty. In order to avoid them continue staying in your house, we need to do cleansing rituals and prayer to claim the ownership of the house and to get rid of any negativity before we start renovation or moving into the house.

We have heard common practice such as rolling of pineapple into the new house and saying lucky phrases while entering the new house.
